I've always been fascinated with hands and fingerprints, and palmistry. This pen and ink titled "Hands On" is a study of my hands using inked stamp-pads and my fingers to press in the tonal values, with a finishing touch of ink line work. The little lacquered box I am opening called to me many years ago at a flea market and inspired my poem "Pandoras Box": "I heard you call to me, whispering you belonged to me - that I, Pandora, could possess you and my life would never be the same. I was so drawn to you: painted on your black lacquer lid, a castle of pale cream walls, red windows and turrets nestled between emerald hills where dragons slept. You lived among the gypsies, helped them weave their magic spells - an irresistible allure drew me to you, promises echo crimson from within. So I opened you, wondrously peered inside, let chaos reign.”
