“Flying In The Wind” expresses my love of repeating patterns and my need to both create order from chaos and make art that provides a peaceful and meditative experience and where I can lose myself in the creative process. This is part of a series of visual artworks, along with an accompanying poem, that are based on a recurring dream I have where I rise from the ground and fly over land. The dragonfly is an integral part of the Manitoba landscape and symbolizes change through self-discovery and the opening of oneself to living freely and in the moment. This overall design is also a repeating pattern when digitized. I created “In The Wind” with oil pastels using a sgraffito technique. Practiced in Italy since the 1730’s, sgraffito is an old and beautiful “subtractive” method of creating images by scraping away a surface of medium in patterns and shapes to expose underlying layer(s) of colour.
This 9x12" artwork is matted to fit a 16x20" frame. Price is $200 matted. Framing, taxes and shipping are extra.
