Six Leaves

Dreams about leaves signify a new found happiness and improvement in varying aspects of life. Leaves are symbolic of fertility, growth, openness and the passage of time. The number six represents harmony, balance, sincerity, love, and truth. “Six Leaves” was created with oil based ink colors layered and worked into a piece of plexi-glass that I had scratched a leaf design into. Final ink colors were delicately applied and/or removed “a la poupée” and pieces of glued rice paper laid on the plate with the image then being transferred onto dampened paper by running it through a hand press. A Monoprint is a unique image created from a plate or other matrix that has the potential to print in multiple. It is a repeatable image that is made unique by the addition of drawing, or layering ink colors, applying chine colle or patterning.

"Six Leaves" is a series of 9 Monoprints. A Monoprint is a unique image created from a plate or other matrix that has the potential to print in multiple. It is a repeatable image that is made unique by the addition of drawing, or layering ink colors, applying chine colle or patterning. “Six Leaves” was done as a play with oil based ink in varying viscosity color overlays on plexiglass scratched with a design, and with the image then being transferred onto paper.
